Mahuki is the brainchild of Czech-born guitarist and composer Honza Kourimsky, based in Edinburgh, UK. Fusing raw cinematic energy with hypnotic rhythm, Mahuki’s music moves between spiritual jazz, fusion, and the harder edges of groove-based improvisation. Since launching the project in 2022, he has built a sound and identity rooted in intention, humility, and connection—values that shape not just the music, but how it’s made and shared.

THis debut record, LIVE FROM THE LIVING ROOM SET, was recorded in front of a sold-out audience and quickly gained traction on BBC Radio Scotland, NESS Radio (France), and The Face Radio (USA). He followed it with a UK tour, including a featured performance at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival.

In 2024, Mahuki released GRATITUDE, expanding his sonic palette with strings, ambient textures, and spoken word. The record was supported by Bridge the Gap Management, and showcased his evolution into more expansive and emotionally layered soundscapes. That same year, he undertook a Creative Scotland-funded tour across the UK and Czech Republic, performing alongside genre-defining artists such as Soweto Kinch and Liam Shortall (corto.alto).

As momentum grew, Mahuki’s work continued to resonate across international airwaves, with features on Jazz FM, BBC Radio 3, Worldwide FM, and Reprezent Radio, including a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Round Midnight. He has been championed by tastemakers including Tina Edwards, with editorial support from outlets like Twisted Soul, Cast the Dice, UK Jazz News, and You and the Music. His music has also been included in high-profile playlists such as Apple Music’s Jazz Scene UK and Shapeshifting, as well as Spotify’s Jazz Scene UK*Spitting Fire, and Somewhere Soul.

In recognition of his creative vision, Mahuki was nominated for the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award, followed by a nomination for the Made in Scotland Fund.

At the heart of it all is a commitment to honest, high-energy music—music that pulses with clarity and emotional depth, built for dancers, dreamers, and those drawn to rhythm that feels human and alive.
